The story till date

Here you are, as if the homepage wasn't enough. But if you want someone qualified, you have to do the due diligence. I would.

So - where were we? Hopefully the homepage.

Then you already know that I am freelancing as of now - but before that, I was working at 22 Feet Tribal from March 2019 to June 2020. I was added to an intra-agency pitch on my first day, and a week later, the idea that I uttered out loud was used. You can see the main video of the campaign here. Things went uphill and then down, but I am glad for the time I had there. Wouldn't exchange it for anything else.

For about 2 years before that - from December 2016 to March 2019 - I was at Langoor Digital. Worked on a lot of B2B stuff, wrote for global audiences, and managed some pretty cool stuff for Intuit, The Body Shop, iD Foods, and countless pitches. The art team that I worked with there was THE best.

Interactive Avenues it was, before jumping ship to Langoor. February 2015 to December 2016. Met a bunch of good ones there, We still talk sometimes. Late night idea changes for Toyota's stall and ideas at Auto Expo Delhi was one of the highlights. So was creating a brand voice/tone for ACT Fibernet.

It was supposed to be, because I had left Saatchi & Saatchi Focus on a high note. The 8-month period that I spent there is responsible for me finding my style, realising what I am good at, and finally getting the confidence to at least speak up (sad, I know - but I am glad I started at least). Even though I did not get a chance to show how much I had learned there.

Before landing at Saatchi, I was kind of lost - worked any and all kinds of jobs for exactly 2 years. Looking back, these were the worst. Wrote for hours and hours for peanuts. Just to survive. I had kept the cuttings of classifieds and 'unbelievable growth in 5 weeks' that I wrote to remind me of how bad it can get. I needed help in so many ways but I didn't know.

And that happened because of a horrible, horrible stint at Rediffusion Wunderman. The creative director there made my life hell. I run into him sometimes in one of the Indiranagar pubs (he's a teetotaler). He gives a beaming smile, as if he misses working with me. Maybe he does.

Phew. That wasn't pleasant. Now that I look back, I was headed for that rude awakening - being 'heart over head' and stuff when I didn't know what it fully meant. I could have stayed in the software engineering job that was handed to me on a platter. Or gritted my teeth and stayed at MRM Worldwide.

But that's okay.

I wouldn't have it any other way.
